Neuroaffirming Testing

I'm Dr. Cindy, a licensed psychologist with over a decade of experience conducting psychological assessments for children, teens, and adults. I specialize in evaluations for autism, ADHD, learning differences, and cognitive functioning, helping individuals and families gain clarity and move forward with confidence.

At KindMind Assessments, my approach is neuroaffirming and grounded in the belief that every brain is unique. Neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities, are natural variations of the human experience, not problems to be fixed.

What Neuroaffirming Testing Means in My Practice

I approach every evaluation with care, curiosity, and respect:

  • Respect for identity — I do not pathologize differences. Instead, I focus on understanding how you (or your child) think, learn, and experience the world.
  • Strengths-based insight — Alongside areas of challenge, I highlight strengths, interests, and abilities to help guide meaningful, individualized supports.
  • A collaborative process — I value your voice and lived experience. Whether I'm working with a child, teen, or adult, I see the evaluation as a partnership.

Why This Work Matters

When done thoughtfully, assessments can be empowering, not overwhelming. They can build self-understanding, support confidence, and open doors to meaningful accommodations and advocacy.

My goal is not just to provide answers, but to help you feel understood.

What to Expect

I design the evaluation process to feel:

  • Gentle and person-centered
  • Flexible and sensory-aware
  • Grounded in trust, compassion, and collaboration

I adapt both the environment and my approach to support comfort and communication, including honoring sensory needs, alternative communication styles, pacing, and breaks.

The Evaluation Process

  • Initial Consultation — We start with a conversation about your goals, concerns, and whether an evaluation is the right fit.
  • Intake & Background Information — I gather relevant history through questionnaires and, when appropriate, conversations with parents, caregivers, or other supports.
  • Testing Sessions — Sessions are thoughtfully paced and flexible to support engagement, regulation, and authentic performance.
  • Comprehensive Report — You'll receive a clear, strengths-based report with findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and practical recommendations.
  • Feedback Session — We review everything together so you leave with clarity, direction, and space to ask questions.
